Kit and I recently visited Glacier National Park in western Montana. Their Road to the Sun is a narrow two lanes chiseled into a rock face alongside a precipice. It gives an unequaled feeling of intimacy with massive mountains. And Montana’s fall colors are beautiful.
Not feeling overwhelmed surprised us. Then we realized that we live in Washington with three spectacular national parks featuring snow-covered mountains and scenic seashores. The parks and many other amazing Washington locations that don’t get much recognition have spoiled us. We visit them regularly and occasionally venture into Canada. Even driving into our town gives us glimpses of mountains and pristine waters.
But every place has its advantages. Kit and I are mountain, rugged seashore, and tall evergreen forest people. We even like rainy weather. Other places have friendly beaches, an abundance of sunny dry days, and open sky. I’m glad our country has plenty of outdoor variety. I hope you are spoiled in your place.
