What About UFO’s? (picture released by the Pentagon)

While selling novels, Kit and I are meeting a LOT of interesting people. Some are attracted to our science fiction novel, The Ambassadors. Credible technical people have told us about personal UFO sightings. Recent Pentagon releases, such as the photo shown, cannot be discounted as atmospheric anomalies or weather balloons. According to Gallup polls, 37% of Americans believe in extraterrestrial UFOs.

I believe flying saucer pictures are hoaxes. In a previous blog, I explained that the flying saucer myth originated from saucer-shaped cloud formations over Mt. Rainier. Kit and have seen these. However, even the Bible contains descriptions of non-terrestrial beings, such as angels, that modern day observers could interpret as UFOs.

Physics as we know it, excludes interstellar space flight exceeding the speed of light. However, quantum physicists have discovered a dimension, a realm, a reality that we cannot penetrate. Travel between realities by breaching that divide is more likely, in my opinion, than warp drive.

SETI, search for extraterrestrial intelligence, primarily scans for patterned electromagnetic waves (examples: radio, light, micro-waves, X-rays, gamma) that could prove the existence of aliens.  I’m not surprised that a century of looking has come up empty.  A civilization of beings capable of generating and transmitting detectible signals would send them out in a very narrow time band. Humans for example, have been sending radio waves for about 120 years out of billions of years since the Big Bang.  That would give an alien species about 120 out of three billion chances of detecting humanity. Our probability of detecting them would be similar.

I think that if UFO’s are real—and I hope so—in whatever form, they’re closer to home than we realize.
