You can’t avoid AI anymore. Don’t trust it for truth. #1 – AI will confirm whatever you want to believe. #2 – If AI doesn’t know something, it will guess. AI doesn’t readily identify itself as AI. I asked one, “Are you an AI?” It responded, “I’m not programed to answer that.”
Nevertheless, I’m finding AI rather useful. No more waiting 38 minutes for the next available service rep. AIs provide a wonderful starting point for more thorough research. Various internet sites increasingly offer to help you do difficult tasks which links you into their AI.
My new caution is that others are using AI for nefarious purposes. Kit and I are being inundated with scams and fell for one. (After we experienced much angst, our credit card company bent their own rules to get our money back.) Scammers are now using AI to target us. AI can collect information about you and craft a convincing pitch. Please beware.
