Like millions of others, I’ve been watching and capturing pictures from the live 24-hour Big Bear Bald Eagle Cam in California. I had planned to blog on it this weekend. Then USA reported the eagles on their front page weekend edition Friday.

I’ve learned many interesting things. Eagles follow traditional roles. The mother, Jackie, cares for and guards the half-grown eaglets. The father, Shadow, brings home food, mostly fish, and guards the nest when Jackie takes a well-deserved break. Eagles sleep with their heads under their wings like most other birds. Their voices are high-pitched and shrill. And the two eaglets readily share food without squabbling. Show me two human siblings who never argue over a cookie.

This is better than anything I can find to watch on TV. And in these troubled times I need some heart-warming diversions.
