Document Your Life Story(s) – 45 seconds

Writing memoirs is very popular these days. Kit and I believe this would be a wonderful gift to your descendants. And the project would stimulate you to re-enjoy your life through memories. The picture is Kit and Drew about forty-four years ago and triggers wonderful memories for us.

Various businesses offer to write and print your life story. The last time I checked the service started at $18,000 and went to $42,000 for an individual autobiography. I got the impression that the product would be like a photo album with text. If you’re willing to spend that much, sign a contract with me. (joking)

Alternatively, you can write something meaningful yourself. A professional editor can polish your writing for about $50 per thousand words. You could publish hardback copies for a few hundred dollars depending on the quantity printed,  manuscript length, and the number of color pictures.

If you decide to try this, we suggest a series of 500-1,000 word anecdotes rather than a chronological narrative. A series of shorter accounts is easier to write. Exciting incidents which include a hardship endured or a mistake made are more likely to be read. They can pass wisdom acquired to your descendants, especially teenaged ones. Your stories are also candidates for publishing in periodicals. Kit and I have had millions of readers in this manner.

Contact Kit and me if you want free advice, written details, and examples on writing your own story(s).
